The University of Nebraska Board of Regents today elected Bob Whitehouse as chairman for 2011. Whitehouse, of Papillion, represents District 4 and was elected to the Board in 2006. He served as vice chairman in 2010.
Regent Jim McClurg of Lincoln, who represents District 5, was elected vice chairman.
Whitehouse was principal of Bryan Senior High School in Omaha from 1987 to 2000, and has served in a variety of teaching and leadership positions at Bryan Junior High School and Omaha South and Omaha Central high schools. Whitehouse served on the UNK Alumni Association Board and is a past board member of the Metropolitan Community College Foundation. He was an educational consultant for Omaha Public Schools from 2000 to 2005 and is currently co-coordinator of the Middle School Learning Center Initiative for OPS. Whitehouse earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Nebraska.
McClurg was appointed to the Board in 2002 and elected in 2006. He served as chairman in 2006. McClurg is president of Technical Development Resources Co. and chairman of the board of directors at Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association.
