Mechanical Engineer, Facilities Management and Planning, UNL
I am pleased to be able to recognize Kirk Conger, a Mechanical Engineer with Facilities Management and Planning at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with a KUDOS award.
As UNL was facing a potential $3.5 million utility budget deficit, Kirk studied various energy conservation techniques and researched the cost of implementing these techniques. Upon UNL administration’s approval of his conservation proposals, Kirk helped develop conservation algorithms and oversaw implementation in over 80 university buildings operated by UNL’s Energy Management Control System.
During this process, Kirk repeatedly demonstrated his expertise with the energy consuming systems in the various campus buildings. The resulting energy and cost savings are a direct result of Kirk’s exemplary service to UNL. I’m not sure, but I also think this means we all have Kirk to thank for the heat here in Varner Hall today!
Kirk is joined this afternoon by his wife, Cindy. Kirk, on behalf of the Board of Regents, thank you for your service to the university.
