Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs,
The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award today to Mary Guest, Administrative Technician for the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Mary – who is the initial contact for Student Affairs at UNL – is described as a valuable asset to the department, a dedicated and committed staff member. She has a genuine and sincere approach with students and staff alike, and possesses that rare ability to make all people feel comfortable.
Mary is the person instrumental in organizing and accomplishing the many activities and events that originate in Student Affairs. She is quick to take on a task, and is always a team player. She has handled the logistics for the Empowerment Forum with poise and efficiency, and her commitment to detail and unwavering dedication were key to making the event a success. When the Summer Institute for Scholars was administered through Student Affairs, she ensured that the program was well organized.
Mary also provides administrative support for the Student Affairs Graduate Program, as well as the graduate assistants assigned to the office. She works with students who are deployed by the military; informs faculty of student absences; responds to WAM comments and questions; and facilitates the student funding process.
In addition, she fields the many unusual questions and requests that come from the public – and maintains a positive demeanor regardless of the situation.
Mary’s guests today are: Her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jeff Helget; her daughters Melissa and Amanda Mosier; and her supervisor, Dr. Timothy Alvarez.
Please join me in thanking Mary Guest for her contributions to Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
