The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Gloria Mason, a Helpdesk Associate for Information Technology Services at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
On any given day, Information Technology Services receives a multitude of questions and requests – from all corners of the campus – requests that are often laced with panic and frustration.
About 75 to 80 percent of all these problems are resolved at the Helpdesk, and Gloria manages to handle them with patience, calm, professional attitude – and the unique ability to clearly communicate technical procedures.
Gloria’s colleagues praise her for her expertise in information technology, but also for her skill in troubleshooting problems. Her major responsibility is to provide support for the faculty, students and staff who contact her by phone, email and web. But she also has additional responsibilities that include the supervision and training of student workers, maintaining Helpdesk web pages, creating training materials, and conducting large group and individual training sessions on a variety of topics.
Deb Schroeder, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Services at UNK, says: “For most of our faculty, staff and students, the primary contact with our department is through the Helpdesk. Our reputation depends on the ability of the Helpdesk to provide support. Gloria has played a key role in our success. She treats every person with respect and she handles every question and request professionally.”
Gloria is joined today by her husband, Larry.
We are honored to present this KUDOS Award to Gloria Mason for her exceptional service to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, for her outstanding commitment to her profession and for exceptional service she provides to the entire campus community.
