Weiyu Guo Receives Administrative FellowshipUniversity of Nebraska President L. Dennis Smith has announced the awarding of the Equity in Opportunity Administrative Fellowship for 2004 to Weiyu Guo, an assistant professor in the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Dr. Guo earned her Ph.D. in finance from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1999 and joined the UNO faculty that same year. She teaches courses in investment, investment risk management, and international business in UNO’s master of business administration and Executive MBA programs. A native of China, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Zhongshan University. She also holds an MBA from Southwest Missouri State University. She has served as faculty-in-residence for the ConAgra Foods’ economic and research department She has chaired the UNO Chancellor’s Commission on Multi-Cultural Affairs and is faculty advisor to the campus Asian-American Cultural Society.
The purpose of the fellowship is to increase professional opportunities for University of Nebraska faculty and administrative staff members and to encourage them to consider pursuing senior administrative positions. The fellowship provides part-time release from the fellow’s normal duties to allow for participation in fellowship activities, which include meetings, conferences, and individual collaboration with the president and other senior administrators in the University of Nebraska system. Dr. Guo’s fellowship is for the 2004 Spring and Fall semesters.
