Today the threat of biological warfare is all too real. Fortunately, Dr. Michael Meagher of the UNL Biological Process Development Facility is working with the U.S. Army to develop vaccines against botulism, a deadly neurotoxin that could be used as a weapon. He also applies his chemical engineering expertise to producing cancer-fighting drugs.
The UNL Biological Process Development Facility, with a full-time staff of 30 scientists and technicians, works with many different small and large companies and the federal government to develop processes to produce proteins used in human clinical trials.
