President Milliken's Statement on Passage of Higher Education Opportunity Act
University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken has released the following statement commenting on Congressional passage of HR 4137, the Higher Education Opportunity Act, which reauthorizes many federal programs under the Higher Education Act of 1965.

"I am grateful for the strong support and work of Nebraska’s delegation on this legislation which increases college access opportunities by streamlining the federal financial aid process, making Pell Grants available year-round, and providing information on college costs by sector and state. I strongly agree with making college access more transparent and affordable. The University of Nebraska was one of the first to participate in the national College Portrait: Voluntary System of Accountability, which provides access to meaningful and comparable college information on the web. One of our priorities is to ensure that cost does not prohibit qualified students from earning a degree at the University of Nebraska. Thus, we are investing more in need-based aid and expanding our Tuition Assistance Program so more students from middle class families can afford a college degree."
