01/17/2008 NU Board of Regents elects new officers
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents today elected Chuck Hassebrook as the chairperson for 2008. Hassebrook, from Lyons, represents District 3 and has served on the Board of Regents since 1994. He has been re-elected to two additional terms, most recently in 2006, and previously served as chair in 2000 and as vice chair in 2007 and 1999.

11/25/2007 University of Nebraska Joins Voluntary Accountability Program
High school students who are searching for the right college or university have a new resource to help in their decision process: the College Portrait, a web-based program that allows prospective college students, their families and others to compare costs, graduation rates, degree offerings and other important factors at colleges and universities across the U.S. And the University of Nebraska is one of the first to sign on to the new program.

10/29/2007 UNO offers students in three Iowa counties reduced nonresident tuition
In an effort to increase the university’s nonresident enrollment, raise the educational level in the Omaha metropolitan area, and promote regional economic development, the University of Nebraska at Omaha will offer students in three metropolitan Iowa counties the opportunity to attend UNO at significantly reduced tuition rates starting in the fall of 2008, according to an announcement Tuesday from John Christensen, chancellor of UNO, and James B. Milliken, president of the University of Nebraska.
10/11/2007 Enrique Martínez Celaya named Presidential Professor
University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken has announced the appointment of internationally renowned artist Enrique Martínez Celaya as Visiting Presidential Professor at the University of Nebraska. The appointment of Martinez Celaya – a painter, photographer, sculptor and writer – will begin this fall and extend over a three-year period (2007-2010). He joins former U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser as Presidential Professor.
10/08/2007 NU Begins Search for Vice President and General Counsel
University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken announced the beginning of the search for a new University General Counsel. A member of the University of Nebraska's senior administrative leadership, the General Counsel reports to the president and is the chief legal officer of the four-campus University.
10/01/2007 University of Nebraska Foundation awards grants across NU
The University of Nebraska Foundation’s board of directors has awarded grants of more than $1.1 million to the University of Nebraska to support projects and programs on all four campuses for 2007-2008.
10/01/2007 UNO Chancellor installation set for Oct. 9
John E. Christensen will be officially installed as Chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) during a ceremony set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Strauss Performing Arts Center on the UNO campus in Omaha. University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken will preside over the event, which is open to the public.
09/25/2007 NU Regents to visit North Carolina campuses and research park
In October, members of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents will join NU President James B. Milliken for briefings and tours of several North Carolina university research campuses and an internationally known research park.
09/12/2007 NU General Counsel to retire
University of Nebraska Vice President and General Counsel Richard R. Wood announced his retirement Thursday. Wood has served as General Counsel for the University for almost three decades, and will retire effective Dec. 31 of this year.
09/09/2007 Largest enrollment in more than a decade at University of Nebraska
Enrollment at the University of Nebraska increased by 2.7 percent this fall, the third year in a row student numbers have gone up. A total of 47,058 students are attending the university in the 2007-08 school year – the highest total enrollment since 1996 - with significant increases in first-time freshmen and graduate students.

University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken will join U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings for a Nebraska news media conference call from Latin America – São Paulo, Brazil – at 10:30 a.m. C.T. on Friday, August 24.
