The Board of Regents will meet on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Varner Hall. Committee meetings begin at 8:00 a.m. and the Board meeting begins at 1:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. 10/16/2009 Campaign for Nebraska to raise $1.2 billion for NU
The public phase of a comprehensive fundraising campaign led by a prominent team of volunteers was announced today by the University of Nebraska and University of Nebraska Foundation. The Campaign for Nebraska: Unlimited Possibilities seeks to raise $1.2 billion to meet high-priority opportunities and needs for the university's four campuses.
09/16/2009 2009-10 Presidential Graduate Fellows
University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken has announced eight 2009-10 recipients of Presidential Graduate Fellowships. These prestigious fellowships honor NU graduate students – four students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, two at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and two at the University of Nebraska at Omaha – on the basis of high scholastic performance, personal accomplishment and innovative research projects. This year, fellowships are presented in cancer research, discrete mathematics and immigration, psychology, physiology and politics.
09/14/2009 Presidential Professor Martinez Celaya returns to Nebraska
Enrique Martínez Celaya begins his third and final year as the University of Nebraska Visiting Presidential Professor with a visit to the state during the week of September 28. The internationally acclaimed artist will participate in seminars and discussions with students, faculty, administrators, and community arts leaders in Omaha, Lincoln, and Kearney. His visit culminates with a public lecture at the Joslyn Art Museum, Friday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
09/04/2009 NU enrollment highest in 13 years; up for 5th consecutive year
University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken today announced that for the fifth year in a row, total enrollment increased at the University of Nebraska overall and at each of the four campuses. The 2009 total – 49,031 students – is the highest since 1996 and an increase of 2.6 percent over 2008.

The University of Nebraska plans to greatly expand its distance education courses and programs to better serve Nebraskans and to capture a larger share of the growing national and international market for online learning, according to NU President James B. Milliken.

University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken and other America experts in higher education will join Dr. Jill Biden, an educator and wife of the vice president, and senior government officials for the UNESCO 2009 World Conference on Higher Education, to be held in Paris July 5-8.

University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken today announced that the University will offer free tuition to qualifying veterans through participation in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement program.
06/12/2009 Regents Medal honors Ruth and Bill Scott
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents’ most prestigious award, the Regents Medal, will be presented on Thursday, June 11, to Ruth and Bill Scott of Omaha. The Scotts are among the most generous donors in the history of the University of Nebraska, having made significant contributions to academic programs, scholarships and facilities.

A dramatic increase in the level of computing capability available to faculty researchers is now available in a newly expanded Holland Computing Center at the University of Nebraska, NU President James B. Milliken announced today.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Friday, June 12, at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege Street, Lincoln. Committee meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the Board meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m.
06/05/2009 University of Nebraska releases 2009-10 budget
University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken today released details of the 2009-10 operating budget that will be presented to the Board of Regents for approval on June 12. Milliken expressed his optimism for the university despite current economic conditions.
06/03/2009 University of Nebraska Establishes $1.2 Million Student Assistance Fund
University of Nebraska students who find themselves in unexpected financial distress during the school year will have an additional source of assistance, thanks to a new $1.2 million fund announced today by NU President James B. Milliken. The Student Assistance Fund will help students whose circumstances change after regular financial aid awards have been made.
