Planning continues for Nebraska Innovation Campus, a public-private partnership that will bring researchers, businesspeople, instructors and students together to leverage University of Nebraska research in food, water and fuel -- among others and to build private sector partnerships for the long-term economic benefit of Nebraska.

Consultants have briefed the Board of Regents on developments and plans, including a review of new conceptual drawings for the proposed research campus at the former State Fair Park. Initial plans are to be completed by Dec. 1 and the University will take ownership of the 231 acres on Jan. 1, 2010. The consultants and university planners have made recommendations as to how Innovation Campus can link UNL’s city and east campuses, how sustainable practices can be incorporated into new building space and how recreation and entertainment space, retail and services/hospitality areas, and residential living can ultimately be developed.
