Don doesn't mid the noisy, constant hum of two 80,000-pound boilers, or the 120-degree temperatures radiating from the heavy equipment. He is just happy his job doesn't require him to sit behind a desk.

Don is responsible for helping maintain and repair the boilers, pumps, and air conditioning units an UNMC. He and his co-workers must make sure all of this equipment works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round.

An Omaha native, Don learned his skills in the Navy, working on turbines and boilers. He joined the staff at UNMC after leaving the Navy in 1962.
