Art McWilliamsArt McWilliams
Hewit Dining Center
Art has served the University for 45 years now in three different positions: as Master Chef and Director of the Nebraska Center Dining program, as a senior Dining Manager with the Nebraska Unions Catering Services, and in his current capacity at Hewit.
Art has tackled the daunting task of serving thousands of meals to thousands of students and student athletes – over the course of his time at the University – and he has accomplished that mission with consistently high reviews and commendation. His culinary talents are exceptional with respect to selection, preparation, presentation and service. He is a master at creating a sense of fine dining from even the most ordinary of items and settings. His skills with presentation are legendary, evident in upscale, sit-down catered events, as well as in buffet and self-service styles.
As excellent as Art's dining and management skills, his sense of commitment and service are even more outstanding. According to those who nominated Art: "He is a low-key, can do-will do kind of gentleman. He quietly builds remarkably mutual and respectful relationships with the student athletes, coaches and athletic administrators. He is unassuming and humble, and consistently expresses his appreciation that the University has given him so many years of professional opportunity, support and encouragement."
