Jeff BurdicAcademic Advisor, College of Business Administration, UNL
The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Jeff Burdic, academic adviser for the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Jeff’s primary responsibility is advising many of the undergraduate students in the College of Business Administration to assure they are efficiently working their way toward graduation. Cynthia Milligan, Dean of the College of Business Administration, says: “Jeff is one of those individuals you want your son or daughter to see when there is an advising concern. He listens well; he cares about individual needs; he is thorough in assuring that students understand the policy or procedure; he is sensitive to unique, special needs. He is honest and forthright, and reliable.”
But colleagues point out that Jeff also has many behind-the-scenes responsibilities that include activities and programs that benefit the overall advising needs of students and ensure their academic success.
Jeff works with transfer students and transfer institutions – deals with development and implementation of online advising instruments – manages the study abroad program at Senshu University in Tokyo – and assists faculty advisors. In fact, in an effort to better assist faculty in their role as faculty advisers, Jeff took the initiative to create a Fall Faculty Fair and an email newsletter, Between the Columns, and is now developing a faculty adviser handbook and training program.
Today Jeff has brought the following guests: Dr. D’vee Buss, Assistant Dean in the College of Business Administration (and former Kudos recipient); his wife, Stephanie Burdic; his son, Andrew; his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Donna Burdic; his sister-in-law, and his niece, Maija Burdic.
Please join me in thanking Jeff for his dedication to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and to the College of Business Administration.
