Carmella has also had special responsibility in managing the fourteen Willa Cather collections held in the UNL archives. These are among the most heavily used collections, and she herself is an important resource for information about the Cather collections. Among Carmella’s contributions - is the creation of a Cather family genealogy - a very practical and vital resource for researchers and reference staff.

Carmella provided reference services in Archives, which often included using the records of the Board of Regents. One example is work done by undergraduate students through UCARE projects on aspects of University History. The Board minutes are a vital source for historical information and as a starting-off point for research in other archival collections. Carmella's skills in patron reference work ensured access to materials in the archival collections and assisted in research and scholarship.

Carmella has a strong record of committee service in the Libraries. On the Display Committee, she helps plan exhibits held outside of Archives/Special Collections. On the Diversity Committee, she helps develop programming and workshops that keep issues of diversity as a priority for staff and faculty.

Congratulations, Carmella, on receiving the KUDOS award from the Board of Regents.
