Linda Rizijs has been Director of Nursing at the University Health Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for over 30 years. During that time, she has overseen clinic operations, assisted in the transition from a 24-hour service to a daytime clinic, and orchestrated mass immunization clinics for seasonal influenza and H1N1. She has been instrumental in writing and implementing the Center’s Emergency Operations Plan. Since 9/11, to improve emergency preparedness, she has directed nurses to continuing education courses concerning mass casualty events.
As a manager, Linda identifies her employees’ strengths and fits their roles to these strengths, affording them the opportunity to develop their aptitudes and interests. This makes for a very positive and healthy work environment.
Linda’s emphasis has always been on providing a good service to the students. And while her focus is the student population at UNL, she also arranges influenza immunizations for faculty, staff and central administration and provides special vaccinations for researchers and students. Her actions illustrate her understanding of the mission of the University and the role the University Health Center has to support that mission.
Thank you, Linda, for your dedication to the University of Nebraska. Congratulations.
