The mission of the University of Nebraska Medical Center is to improve the health of Nebraska through premier educational programs, innovative research, the highest quality patient care and outreach to underserved populations. Over the past decade, UNMC has experienced unprecedented expansion and renewal sparked by a significant level of private support and growth in research funding, attracting talented faculty from major medical research institutions.

New facilities include two major research towers, the Durham Research Centers I and II; the Sorrell Center for Health Science Education, a state-of-the-art teaching and clinical skills facility; Scott Student Plaza and Hope Tower, a central gathering place for students, employees and the community; Center for Nursing Science, one of five UNMC nursing education centers across the state; Home Instead Center for Successful Aging, focusing on geriatric medicine; Maurer Center for Public Health, housing our newest academic college; Truhlsen Eye Institute; and renovation of the Eppley Cancer Institute, College of Dentistry and other facilities.

On the horizon is an exciting $370 million cancer center that will include research, in-patient and out-patient care – the most ambitious project in UNMC history.
